1963年1月7日，乳名Clinton Darryl Mansell的Clint Mansell出生於英格蘭考文垂市。自1981年進入樂壇以來，Mansell成功地扮演了樂手和作曲家的角色。

Mansell曾經是英國流行樂隊Pop Will Eat Itself的主唱兼吉他手，而1996年樂隊解散後，Mansell在好友，導演達倫·阿羅諾夫斯基的幫助下進入了電影作曲的天地。

Mansell的出道作品是在阿羅諾夫斯基1998年完成的導演處女作π中的配樂。盡管在此作品中的表現獲得了評論界的好評，但Mansell此時還不為大眾所知。隨著與Autechre，Aphex Twin，Orbital和Roni Size的合作，他贏得了智能舞曲和電子樂愛好者的青睞。

Mansell的下一部作品則是阿羅諾夫斯基2000年的力作，夢之安魂曲的配樂。本片的配樂堪稱完美，為Mansell帶來了不少忠誠的信徒。而指環王2·雙塔奇謀的宣傳片也採用了夢之安魂曲的一首配樂Lux Aeterna的混音版作為背景音樂，並更名為Requiem For A Tower。Lux Aeterna也因此名聲大噪，並被用到了無數電視節目和電影預告中，其中就有電影迷走星球，達芬奇密碼，巴比倫紀元以及電視劇集Lost。此外，天空體育新聞每周六的足球節目也用此曲作為伴奏。
